Cascade

The Cascade Swim Club is off to Saskatoon next week to defend their 2012 Western Canadian National Champions title against some of the best swimmers in the country. Cascade has won this meet with overall team championship titles in 2012, 2011 & 2010. The meet is a homecoming of sorts as the team's first ever Championship banner came in this same pool, Saskatoon's Shaw Centre, in 2010.

Cascade will be sending 26 swimmers ranging from 13 year-old first time qualifiers to 24 year-old Olympic Team veterans in the hopes of repeating as team champions.

National Team Veterans Joel Greensheilds (2008 Beijing Olympics - 5th), Sean Penhale (2010 Commonwealth Games), Karl Wolk (2010 Pan Pacific Championships) will be joined by a crew of young national age group champions and medalists from last summer's national age group championships that were held here at the Talisman Sports Centre.

Calgary Aquabelles

In January 2013, the Aquabelles were involved in the Synchro Canada Talent Acceleration Camp. This camp is used to target current and future national team members. 9 Aquabelles were invited to attend this camp: Erica Slavin, Olivia Zawadiuk, Kali Wong, Jordan McKenzie, Astrid Lauf, Maxime McLean, Abby Russell, Halle Pratt and Breanne Bauer. These athletes worked with National Team Coach, Lyne Piche from the Centre of Excellence, and 2 Centre athletes and former Aquabelles, Gabe Brisson and Kaylene Scheil.

At the end of January, the Aquabelles competed in the National Age Group Provincial Qualifier in Edmonton and on February 8-10 at the National Age Group Provincials at Talisman Centre. Check their results at the following link http://aquabelles.com/ .

Then they will compete in the first ever National Qualifier, which will include all provinces in all age groups. This will be the biggest synchro event ever hosted Nationally. It is being held at Talisman Centre from March 19 - 24.
